The Tremblay Reef

Tremblay Reef Scene

The Tremblay reef site consists of bridge rubble from the Peace River North bound I-75 Bridge that was replaced in 2003. The bulk of this reef is made up of 85 foot long I-beam girders that weigh about 82 tons apiece, randomly dumped in a criss-cross pattern which achieved 19 feet of reveal. There is also plenty of piling, platforms, and decking slabs, to make for a wonderful fish haven. This reef site is massive in size and holds many species of fish both large and small. This site is generally dove as a drift dive, due to the difficulty of navigation. You can wonder around the site for the whole dive and the boat will pick you up where ever you surface.

This is one of the latest reefs put down by the late Rich Novak (Charlotte County Sea-grant Agent) who passed away 21day of January 2004 while participating in a program tagging Blue fin Tuna off the coast of South Carolina.
